Thank you so much for your comments! We wish we could reply to them all, but we would fail miserably, and perhaps start talking to the plants.
In an effort to simplify we are going to start responding directly in comments more often so that you know we are alive, and to also answer questions where everyone can see them.
Exceptions to this: Questions of a personal nature and crabby comments will be dealt with in private.
Well, today was Shriners visit two "The Fitting" soon to be known as " Voyage to Plan B". Life as we all know does not follow a script, and today was as such. Our man B had fabricated some very high tech looking inserts with a foot cup and bottom plate thing with shoe filler. Your standard visco-elastic......NASA.....space age....thermopedic...bullet-proof...type of stuff. Yeah um no go. Her foot would not stay put. It was too high in the shoe so her foot kept coming out. We tried a few Velcro combinations but they also didn't work. The shoe just sorta hung off the Velcro and dangled. She wasn't really down with this option, and yet wasn't really pissy about it either. The fact that this method did not work was a bummer, because it was so non-intrusive and very low-profile. When her feet grow, we will try to re-visit this idea if there is more foot to hold onto the shoe.
We then shifted gears into the next idea.....GET ME THE PLASTER and a SAW and a BIG BUCKET we gonna get messy! Did we mention....LOUD??
No, that is not a catheter!
Yeah,Miss M got castings made of the infamous "pegs" so as to make some AFO style booties. Sort of like low shoes...well really they are the exact version of the glass slipper only in orthopedic plastic.
I do believe that in M's eyes B is now betrothed to her.
FYI Shriners hospital is OSHA compliant dig those nice hearing protectors on M, and the gloves. She was really too comfortable with this process, like she has been down this road before, but I don't know who was driving. The bet is that in a year she will taking her own castings and doing her own adjustments to her appliances.
We, well she selected a lovely "pink spray" pattern aplique for her slippers, it looks like "pink anime' dragon skin", says E. Who watches alot of anime with pink dragons unbeknownst to me apparently. We hung out for them to make the first one, so we could fit it, and make sure it is the right thing. Immediatly we could tell this was the right thing. She took a couple of steps at first and then did this little wierd hoppy run, skippy thing. She was diggin' the booty for sure. We let her wear it for a while so as to be sure it fit well. All the while she was hopping around and running, but more amazing was she was able to stand still with much less wobbling. This was at three in the afternoon, after a very long day when she is most tipsy (much like E in a gin guzzling frenzy). One more visit and we should have this stage kicked (like E's bottle of Tanqueray). We will be going back next week to pick up two sets of "magic feet".
This is my new son-in-law B. He is still yet unaware, but the thought of us as family will soon lead to depression, binge drinking, drug abuse, and long nights of crying alone in his car. We will let him be happily uninformed for now.
Additional notes: He was also kind enough to give M two large handfuls of new socks as a dowry and to replace the pair that were destroyed while making the casts.
Requests to remove the pen/ink/pain markings drawn on to M's feet by B have been DENIED!!!! She luuuurrrvvvess her new tattoos.
When asked if she likes B, she replies with a resounding YES. Not to make his head swell (I don't think that hair should gett too close to water), she has never answered us this directly about liking someone before. Ever.
On a side note: Any one in the area hiring? E just might be interested, because she sure is not interested in her current job. This is for real! Maybe one of you readers from the Hove,UK; Victoria, Australia; or Zuid, Holland need a US employee? Or perhaps our reader in Beiing, China needs someone for their East Coast US office? Contact us.......please!
Oh yeah, site meter is really cool for seeing who is reading your blog...and apparently has you bookmarked...even though they are using a chinese language pack...isn't it? Isn't it?? eeeep!
